We health test our dogs based on the specific issues of that breed.
Our basset puppies are fed Diamond puppy beginning at 4 weeks of age. We also give each of our basset hounds a daily supplement that assists with their immune defense, cardiovascular system, nervous system, digestion, bones and teeth, eyes, ear, and skin! Our Basset puppies are socialized with children, other dogs, cats, and farm animals from roughly 4 weeks of age. We ensure the confidence of each puppy by ensuring they're used to loud noises to avoid anxiety and fear when transitioning from our home to yours.
Each puppy will be registered with the American Kennel Club, paid for by us.
I, Jenna, had a basset hound from the young age of 17 years old. Over the years I began researching the breed more in depth and their health. My goal in breeding Basset Hounds is to provide a companion that will be healthy and happy for many years to come. The average lifespan of this breed is 10-12 years. The Basset Hound originated in France. Their original purpose was for hunting. A few of our babies have been successfully trained to track deer and rabbits! Their short legs and amazing sense of smell make them a great ground-scent breed.
All of our puppies are sold with Health Guarantees. They will be up to date on vaccination, worming, as well as vet checked. Our sale contract offers recommendations for a shot and worming routine. We do a 72 hour and a 1 year full replacement guarantee that is spelled out in the puppy contract related to issues that can be fatal due to genetics. We do not offer long term health guarantees for issues that can be affected by your choice of feed, excercise, injury, or how the dog is raised, this includes hip and elbows because all the newer studies put that at 75% environmental vs genetics.
We offer lifetime breeder support, and to be honest we learn as much from our puppy buyers as they do from us, so please stay in contact. Our puppies are always welcome back to us if in the event your cannot keep your baby. Our contract states our puppies cannot every be surrendered to a shelter. Our babies cannot be re-homed to another family without our written consent.
We do ship puppies both by air and ground. Air transport will be through a flight nanny service, we do not ship our puppies cargo due to the stress it puts on the puppy. You are also more than welcome to set up your own transportation. We have had families fly in themselves and fly the puppy back home, We are willing to meet at the Grand Rapids or Traverse City airport at no extra cost to our families.
Our deposit process is that we will not accept deposits prior to 1 week of age. The first week of the puppies life is fragile. Your deposit will be on a specific puppy. Our Deposits are NON REFUNDABLE.
